Orange County Regional History Center
In partnership with Monadnock Media, Mad Systems modernized several exhibit spaces at the Orange County Regional History Center, located in Orlando, Florida. Mad Systems equipped these spaces with QuickSilver® AV system servers, enhancing three distinct exhibit spaces with interactive kiosks and projections as well as ambient soundscapes.
The exhibits that benefited from Mad Systems’ technology spotlighted diverse aspects of Florida’s history. The first delves into the early natural environment of Florida, particularly exploring the interaction between water and land formation of the central region of the state. Guests are able to use a jogwheel and accompanying monitor/speakers to see the passage of time as the natural environment changed.
A QuickSilver® audio server enriches the entire exhibit space with ambient background sounds, creating a forest-like atmosphere. This system’s ability to randomize sound files, including specific bird calls and water sounds, plays a crucial role in immersing visitors in the sensory experience of being in an actual forest. QuickSilver®’s advanced capabilities in the Orange County Regional History Center exhibit spaces not only educates but dynamically engages visitors, allowing them to experience Florida’s historical and natural environments in a vivid and interactive manner.
Another exhibit focuses on the language of the Timucua Native Americans, who once inhabited Northern Florida. At this kiosk, guests select one of the icons on a touchscreen, the object is then projected onto the roots and logs log setwork. The audio plays back from two external speakers.
The last exhibit space provides narratives about the historical conflicts that arose as European powers vied for control over the region. Guests can select video clips from a touch screen, powered by a QuickSilver® interactive server co-located within the setwork and can see a depiction projected on a wall in front of them accompanied with audio playback through attached headphones.
