Harry S. Truman Library & Museum
In 2021, the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum in Independence, MO opened its doors to visitors following a nearly 2-year closure to accommodate a full renovation. For this facility, Mad Systems partnered with Gallagher & Associates for exhibit design, 1220 Exhibits for fabrication and Monadnock Media who provided interactive programming.
Guests can now traverse across 14,000-square feet of museum space and learn about America’s 33rd president featuring various artifacts and archives amongst immersive theaters featuring pristine projection mapping and theatrical effects.
QuickSilver®’s flexibility shines at the Truman Library, as it provided flexibility with the exhibit design and cost savings across the overall budget. Instead of having media servers in a control room and using expensive extenders, the servers are located within the exhibits allowing for only the audio and control signals to be taken back to the control room. The solution resulted in significant savings in the client’s infrastructure budget and a significantly better long-term serviceability and reliability.
Audio visual interactives are featured throughout the facility, with exhibit spots showcasing landmark moments in Truman’s presidency. The exhibit shown here is the Red Scare room, where guests can sit down, put headphones on and answer questions about their loyalty to America on a touchscreen to experience the fear-mongering tactics that were used during the 1950’s Red Scare period.
Mad Systems designed and installed a wired QuickSilver® system for the Truman Library, as the facility is a federally operated building and does not allow Wi-Fi to be used.
